Jaggery is made by evaporating the water from sugar cane juice or palm sap. It is sold as a block, liquid or granules. Jaggery contains more nutrients than refined sugar because of its molasses content. Molasses is a nutritious by-product of the sugar making process, which is usually removed when making refined sugar.

Like sugar, jaggery is super versatile! It can be grated or broken up, and then used as a replacement for refined sugar in any food or drink.
In India, it's often mixed with foods like coconut, peanuts and condensed milk to make traditional desserts and candies. These include chikki, jaggery cake and chakkara pongal, a dessert made from rice and milk.

It is also used to make traditional alcoholic drinks, such as palm wine, and for non-food purposes like dying fabric.
In the Western world, this sweetener is often used as a sugar substitute in baking. It can also be used to sweeten drinks like tea and coffee.

According to Ayurveda, it is the best natural cleansing agents for the body, which removes toxins particles from the body!

For a change, forget bitter detox drinks and try jaggery!
